Chaplain Carter is entering his third year as chaplain of Fletcher Academy. Being actively involved in spiritual activities while in academy helped to foster an interest in what would eventually become his life work. “While other students were listing crazy occupations by their senior pictures in the yearbook such as aardvark farmers and professional deodorant testers, I listed “youth ministry” as my occupation because I felt the Holy Spirit calling me into ministry because of my passion for people and sharing Jesus Christ with them.
Chaplain Carter graduated from Southern Adventist University in 2001 with his BA in Religion/Education and minor in psychology. In the spring of 2005 Chaplain Carter accepted the call to his present position as chaplain. When asked what he enjoys the most about Fletcher Academy, he quickly responded, “Definitely the people! The students, staff and community are all great to work with and are extremely supportive of what we as a school are trying to accomplish. With so many other Adventist academies struggling to stay open, I feel very blessed to be part of a growing ministry team here at Fletcher Academy. God indeed has a very special work for us to accomplish!”
Chaplain Carter is happily married to his college sweetheart, Carolyn (Hall) Carter, who happens to be the girls’ dean at Fletcher Academy. He is also a VERY proud first-time father of their son. His hobbies include: photography, cooking, reading the Bible and Spirit of Prophecy, camping, working out, and playing various sports.
