How do you describe Annelise? I find it difficult to summarize all of
the smiles, hugs, encouragement, and inspiration she has shared with everyone she meets. Let me attempt by sharing a story.
One morning many of us noticed Annelise was not her usual self. She was down, discouraged, and had this long forlorn look. When I questioned her about why the sad face, she shared with me that because of her class schedule she would not be able to continue her job in the FPI kitchen. I assured her that we would be able to find her another job. She then explained it wasn't the job; it was the people at FPI she had fallen in love with, and she didn't want to leave them. I attempted to console her as best I could, but knew the morning shift at FPI was already full. I then made some phone calls to FPI to see what I could do. The answers were not what we wanted. Later that same day I received a call from the administrator of FPI. He was receiving numerous phone calls from residents who were upset to know Annelise would no longer be working there. He and I discussed several options and gave Annelise the opportunity to return to FPI kitchen. There are two points I hope you grasp from this story. First, Annelise loves people. You do not have to be around her long before you see and realize how much she genuinely cares for everyone she meets. Secondly, people love her. She helps bring a smile to your face and makes the day a little brighter. She genuinely loves her Spiritual Father, and it shows. We will truly miss her. Bill Bass
