Cost Saving Ideas

Fletcher Academy acknowledges a God-given responsibility to be deliberate stewards of the blessings He provides.  The Development office established this web page to share cost-saving ideas.  Not every idea will work so evaluate any strategy thoroughly before adopting.  If you have an idea or testimony to share, please contact us.

Similar to the idea of ebay, Govdeals takes surplus property one government entity doesn't want or need anymore and resells it to eligible non-profits.  Only government entities may sell on Govdeals but anyone may buy the items listed.

Testimony: Blue Mountain Academy desperately needed new dorm room furniture, but the school couldn't handle the costs involved: at least $3,500 per room and $128,000 to furnish both dorms.  That changed when the maintenance director and vice principal for finance found a listing at the website:  They found someone was selling an entire dormitory of furniture from a university.  BMA won the bid for $3,000 and acquired bunk beds with springs, desks, chairs and bookcases for every dorm room, including an extra 20 sets of furniture.  The school paid $3,000 total for the furniture and even sold scrap metal from the old furniture for $1,500, reducing the cost in half.  This deal saved the school more than $100,000.

Companies donate their excess merchandise to NAEIR for tax savings.  NAEIR then gives all the stuff to schools, churches and non-profits for FREE.  Merchandise available includes office, maintenance and janitorial supplies, clothing, paper goods, plus much more.  Any merchandise received from NAEIR must be used for the care of the ill, the needy, or minors and cannot be bartered, traded, or sold.  All the merchandise is FREE, members only pay a small fee to cover the cost of shipping and handling.

Good360 provides its non-profit members access to an online product donation catalog, where they can receive donated goods for their programming and community services.  Donations received by nonprofits through CANNOT be sold, traded or bartered or be given as gifts to volunteers or sold in thrift shops.  All product donations MUST BE GIVEN AWAY FREE OF CHARGE to the needy, ill and youth that you serve in your community.  Product donations must also be used for the core purpose and/or toward programs supporting your tax exempt designation.

Google for Nonprofits

Google for Nonprofits offers organizations access to highly discounted or free products.  These tools can help you find new donors and volunteers, work efficiently, and get supporters to take action.

General Conference National Account Program

The National Account Program is a service of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists under the direction of the treasury department in Silver Spring, Maryland.  The combined purchasing power of the church enables us to negotiate exceptional contract pricing that we can offer to organization buys direct from the vendor.  It is often necessary to establish an account in order to receive the Adventist price.  The contract pricing is available for all churches, schools, conference offices, hospitals, and ASI members.
